Foundation Skills
Linear Sequences (nth term)
The gap is constant. The formula is always "dn + c" where d is the difference.
Example: 5, 8, 11... Gap is 3. nth term = 3n + 2
Finding the Difference
Subtract the 1st term from the 2nd term.
Higher Skills
Quadratic Sequences
The SECOND difference is constant. The nth term involves nยฒ.
Formula: anยฒ + bn + c
Geometric Sequences
Each term is multiplied by a common ratio.
Example: 2, 6, 18, 54... (ร3)
Fibonacci-style
Each term is the sum of the two previous terms.
Example: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8...
