Sequences

Linear (Arithmetic) and Quadratic sequences. This free GCSE Maths module combines short explanations, worked examples, flashcard-style recall, and timed practice so students can revise the topic without creating an account.

Foundation Skills

Linear Sequences (nth term)

The gap is constant. The formula is always "dn + c" where d is the difference.

Example: 5, 8, 11... Gap is 3. nth term = 3n + 2

Finding the Difference

Subtract the 1st term from the 2nd term.

Higher Skills

Quadratic Sequences

The SECOND difference is constant. The nth term involves nยฒ.

Formula: anยฒ + bn + c

Geometric Sequences

Each term is multiplied by a common ratio.

Example: 2, 6, 18, 54... (ร—3)

Fibonacci-style

Each term is the sum of the two previous terms.

Example: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8...
