What is a Bearing?
A bearing is an angle measured clockwise from North. Always written as 3 digits.
Formula: Always 3 digits, measured clockwise from N
Example: Due East = 090° Due South = 180° North-East ≈ 045°
Reading Bearings
Start at North, turn clockwise to the direction you want.
Example: South-West = 225° North-West = 315°
Higher Skills
Back Bearings
The bearing from B back to A is the reverse bearing. Add or subtract 180°.
Formula: Back bearing = bearing ± 180°
Example: Bearing A→B = 060° Bearing B→A = 060 + 180 = 240°
